it was a difficult day for the Titans as we faced Islington in what turned out to be a match overshadowed by numerous challenges. Missing several key players, many of our newer squad members had to step up and shoulder responsibility. While it was a great opportunity for them to gain valuable experience, the lack of depth on the bench forced many to play out of position with few substitutions available, making an already tough game even harder.
Despite these setbacks, Remy stood out as our Man of the Match, demonstrating fantastic leadership and an unwavering commitment to give 100% throughout the match. His effort on the court was a bright spot, and we couldn’t be prouder of his determination and example.
However, beyond the performance on the court, there are pressing issues that need to be addressed about the environment in which we’re playing this sport. The venue today prohibited the use of tac, something that is crucial in handball to ensure a high standard of play. This decision represents a significant step backwards for our sport. The inability to use such an essential tool made it harder for the players to perform at their best, and it’s disheartening to see this kind of regression in a professional league setting.
Moreover, the atmosphere was practically non-existent. Spectators were forced to watch the game from behind glass, unable to enter the hall and contribute to the energy that drives both teams. A sport thrives on its community, its passion, and its fans, but today felt lifeless, with no connection between the players and the supporters. The lack of engagement from the venue and the conditions we faced were simply disappointing.
It's hard not to feel that the spirit and excitement of handball were missing today, and I'm sure many players left the court sensing the same frustration and lack of support from our governing body. We understand the need for regulations, but they should elevate the game, not diminish it.
Despite these challenges, we remain focused. There’s a lot to work on, and we’ll be ready for our next match against Oxford in two weeks’ time. We appreciate the opportunity to play, and our thanks go to Islington for the match, but it’s clear that changes need to be made if we are to progress and grow as a sport.
Scorers: To 6, Dore 4, Stafford 2, Turc 1, Fourfaro 1, Mulonso 1.
Thank you to all those who continue to support us. We’ll regroup and be back stronger.
